LAUNCH.nano
MIT.nano, MIT’s first new cleanroom in over 30 years, opened its doors to great fanfare in October 2018, and that fanfare meant a day-long symposium for the academic side and an open house that evening for the general public. At the open house, you could ride in the freight elevator with a surprise jazz quarter, you could ride in the passenger elevator with a surprise button to take you to the nanoverse (10^-9), you could view a guerilla art exhibit, or you could pick up free swag like pinback buttons, t-shirts, frisbees, and pens. What I’ve got here are some of the buttons and postcards that I designed, along with some drafts of name badges. We worked with Opus Design to establish the branding for this event. The focus was on the building and its contents, plus as many plays on nanotechnology, the nanoscale, MIT nanoscale researchers and their work, and any other good visual jokes we could throw in as possible to make this fun, warm, approachable, and memorable.
